Antique C1900 Jewelry Casket Box Black Wood Brass Ormolu Red Satin Interior

Beautiful antique jewelry or keepsake casket featuring a black-finished wooden exterior embellished with ornate gold/brass-tone applied metal mounts.   The hinged lid is decorated with elaborate scrolling corner ornaments and a large coordinating central medallion. The front features a decorative escutcheon with keyhole, adding to the box’s elegant late Victorian/Edwardian appearance.   Opening the box reveals a striking deep red satin/silk-type fitted interior with gathered fabric compartments designed to hold jewelry and other small treasures.
